It's time for a change...

Starting today, 8/7/2023, this journal will no longer be updated and all new CC will be posted to my new account, mrs_mquve_2 .

Why am I doing this? I need a change. I've been creating for TS2 since 2015 and I feel like a lot of my old content no longer accurately represents who I am. I'm not embarrassed by the quality of my work - I always put my whole ass into everything I do and anything TS2-related is no exception. It's just not, well, weird enough for my current tastes.

On top of that, I may be having a blast making the kind of CC I do now but it's discouraging that since it's so... uh, different from what's been popular the past 10+ years, I don't get much engagement. Which shouldn't bother me, I know, but I've been caught in an endless loop of getting excited to share something I'm proud of only to be disappointed that people aren't really into it. Frankly, I'm too old and tired for that, and I'd rather put my energy into creating.

Don't worry, I'm not taking anything down! Everything I've ever uploaded is still available here, on Tumblr, at GoS, etc. The last thing I want is for people to get frustrated trying to find or download something, because I've been there. And please don't think I don't appreciate those of you who enjoy my CC. I just need to take care of my mental health so that I can continue to make that content and enjoy my hobby.

I'll probably be reposting most of my CC from the last year or two there, and I have plans to revisit some older things and convert outfits to bodyshapes

MrsM'Quve Hair & Eyebrow Colors 2023, now featuring too many goddamn colors

So… (actual) OCD got the better of me and I added 3 more unnaturals to my current hair palette to have neat families for my personal binning system. Which brings the total to 36, because apparently I hate myself.

The new colors are Toxigen, Hydrazine, and Hazardous. Nothing else has changed - uploaded hairs will still have only naturals binned (not familied), and dreads, afros, etc. will have Explosive in place of Molotov.

Consequently, Semtexigen and Hazardous have been added to the eyebrow palette I started using last year. Napardx goes with Hydrazine so I didn’t need a 3rd color. Semtexigen matches Toxigen (and Semtex if you use it). I chose Hazardous over Selezardium because it suits my needs better and because it’s dark blue, it will be BSOK’d under Cannogentmx.

Going forward, I’m also trying to avoid hairs over 30K polys unless it’s for a specific character sim. I have a few I can’t part with, but polycounts are going through the roof these days and I mostly prefer older hairs anyway since IMO they have more variety.

For my personal use, I’m retroactively adding colors to both my old palette hairs I still use and and all 2022 hairs & eyebrows. As semi-realistic unnaturals aren’t in high demand, I won’t be uploading them formally. But if you want any, just ask and if I’ve done or am planning to do them I’ll upload them for you!

Once again freaturing designs from ShiftyThrifting, my sister CoffeemateJC's Star Trek Voyager fanart, and a bunch of other random graphics. There's even more this time, 30 graphic plus 34 solid colors, mostly neon and pastel because that's how I roll. Nobody needs 64 deco coffee mugs, right? Wrong. I do 😆

Pride 2023!

Last year I wanted to do more for Pride Month, but my plans were thwarted by getting ridiculously sick with Covid when I went home to visit family. So I'm making up for it this year, and as with the event projects I've done in the past year or two, I got super inspired and went a bit overboard. I was like "yeah watch me not have this ready until the very last day of June" and yep, I know myself too well. But there's no wrong time to celebrate Pride, and in the US where I am and elsewhere in the world this is a dangerous time for the LGBTQ+ community and many simmers can't safely do so in real life. There's a LOT of pictures, so everything's under the cut.

My Milkshape brings all the sims to the yard...

So here it is, my first ever bodyshape conversion! 😁

Gelydh's Pinup Capris outfit for CPU, with Bosie's "Lilian" (version 1) and some of Azaya's "Dancing" textures. I might make some recolors of my own at some point but I figured I'd upload these now because there's already 18 recolors.

I used LetoMills' edit for the conversion - they reshaped the shoes and edited the mapping to accommodate skins for sexyfeet. As a bonus I've also slapped the same textures on Leto's Maxis AF mesh. Categorized as everyday only, BSOK'd and tooltipped (non-BSOK) versions. The mesh has all morphs and 2040 polys. The repo'd files are texture-referenced to a file labeled "Textures" which is required.

GoS May/June 2023 Theme Contribution

Well, this is the perfect theme for me, since when it comes to TS2 nonconformity (especially goth CC) is what I do 😁 So I've started using bodyshapes - the only thing holding me back for years was a lack of clothing for them that suits my style. I wanted to use Classic Pinup for my Deception IV sims, and there's very little for that shape worthy of the Devil's daughters' wardrobe. I decided to take it upon myself to learn meshing so I could change that. In the meantime, Digi offered to convert some meshes for me, and of course I accepted. So here are my favorite Club Crimsyn dresses converted for CPU, with some new recolors for both those and the original Maxis AF version - a collaboration by Digital Devils, the team of Digi and MrsM'Quve 😉

So... if you follow me on Tumblr, you might be aware already, but big things are happening on Planet Fia. That's right...
I'M LEARNING HOW TO MESH! 😁

I've always wanted to use bodyshapes, but the only thing holding me back is the lack of clothing them that suits my personal taste - especially for Classic Pinup, which I wanted to use for the Deception IV ladies. The majority of it is stuff from 2007 with godawful sandals (the bane of my existence). Aside from a precious few things, there's not much worthy of a place in the Devil's daughters' wardrobe. My friend Digi offered to convert some meshes, which I graciously accepted (and am doing the retexturing on right now, so they're coming soon!) but I always feel bad asking other people to do work for me. And when it comes to TS2, I've surprised myself before with what I can do when I want something specific that nobody else would probably have a reason to make. So I acquired Milkshape, pulled up the most basic of basic meshing tutorials, and somehow the fear of failure I've had for years just... evaporated. And thanks to Lifa's WSOs and Ocelotekatl's tutorials, I did my very first bodyshape conversion!

It's Gelydh's pinup outfit for CPU (also known as "yo dawg I heard you like pinups"). I'll probably be focusing on converting clothing to this shape for my Deception sims, but I also want to learn shoeswaps and other less-complicated things. I do have plans for other bodyshapes, I'm also using Momma Lisa and I have some outfits to retexture for that one. My self-sim might need some Ren Gal outfits because that one looks like me and there's nothing for it that fits my game. Not sure what else though, I'm trying to stick to just a few because I have so much CC already and so much more to make 😭

Anyway, I'll be releasing this soon, I never thought I'd be one of those people juggling a million WIPs at once but here we are oops 🙃

It's been a hot minute, again, I know... but my husband and I moved into our new house, and since we did all the moving ourselves I was too exhausted to do anything other than zone out in front of YouTube when I wasn't packing or lugging shit down 3 flights of stairs. But now things have settled down and I've had time to recuperate, so look forward to more regular content from me (whether that's a good or a bad thing is entirely up to you).

I did have ideas for the last GoS theme and I was working on something but didn't want to rush to finish it, so that'll be coming soon. In the meantime, here's a hair retexture I've had done for a while and some assorted defaults!

It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, I've been plenty inspired to create, and I've been working on some things, but posting niche, semi-realistic TS2 content these days - especially on Tumblr - has been discouraging, and being shadowbanned for absolutely no reason until the other day made it worse. Add to that my OCD (yes, the actual disorder) having my brain in a vice grip about purging and organizing CC to make room for more, and... yeah. But I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, you can pry TS2 and creating CC out of my cold, dead hands.

Anyway, I was reminded of this post recently, and asimplevampire (and Pooklet's delighted response) inspired me to see what I could do with this delightfully ridiculous mesh from 2007. And it was an EPIC journey, so it deserves its own glorious post.

Kujkenaikara! means "Never give up!" and let me tell you, I almost did with this thing. The mapping was an ABSOLUTE dumpster fire. When I tell you I spent several hours over the course of three days in a battle to the death with this monstrosity, I'm not exaggerating. I didn't even consider trying to put Io's edit of Pooklet's texture that I usually use anywhere near it because it would be utterly destroyed by the extent of warping I knew was needed. So I used Pooklet's original V3, with heavy adjustments and blending the wavy texture from Anto's Helen. Doesn't sound too bad, right?

WRONG. The scalp mapping was similar to a lot of Maxis hairs, and was an advanced course in Photoshop's warp tool. And the bangs. Those fuckers were curved in a manner that crossed dimensions. Just putting a new texture on them wasn't enough, either. They looked like somebody Pookleted a piece of paper, cut out some jagged shapes, and stuck them to the sim's head. So I did some serious alpha editing using bits from Newsea and Rose hairs, because I suck at hand-painting hair alphas.

With the scrunchie things I decided it needed some cute patterns, and one of my friends on Discord wondered if it was possible to make them lacy, which turned out to be a fantastic idea. So the naturals each have pattern/lace combo scrunchies and the unnaturals have black lace ones.

So... why the hell would I do something like this? Simple: 1) as a test of my abilities and 2) out of pure spite, because even though I'm generally a doormat I can be petty af. And honestly? I like how this came out. A LOT. I'm considering using it for Lilia when I make Laegrinna's Daemon servants, however this would mean I can't use it on other sims, because in my game unless a hair is extremely generic, if it goes on a character sim it becomes theirs and only theirs. I plan on attempting more old hairs in the future, because I enjoy transforming them with new textures, though I pray that their mapping will have more mercy on my soul than this one did.

I highly doubt anyone else will even use this hair, let alone recolor it, so I haven't included any texture resources like I usually do. However, if your taste is as questionable as mine and you really want to for some unfathomable reason, I'll be happy to provide you with the means to create your own personalized versions of this monster.

I was going to have these finished for yesterday, but even though I didn't travel for the holidays last year and had the free time, I needed to take a breather for a few days after going overboard on the Tumblr followers' gift 😮‍💨 No SFS links today since I'm having trouple uploading at the moment.

Naughty or Nice - 4t2 Santa Dress for Classic Pinup & Maxis AF

So last year I recolored MDP's 4t2 conversion of the top-only Santa dress from Seasons, and I was going to just slap those on Ocelotekatl's CPU version because it's my favorite bodyshape for the Deception ladies. Then, since I just used the TS4 textures last time I figured while I'm at it why not dress it up a little? So I used Bosie's brocade texture (which I love so much) and made 14 recolors, and the belt has new textures too.

I also did the original Maxis AF mesh, of course, because not everyone uses bodyshapes and it wasn't much extra work. The CPU version comes with two options: BSOK'd and tooltipped (not BSOK'd). Everyday only, all morphs, 3292 polys.

Our House (In the Middle of Our Street) - 30 Variations of JodelieJodelie's Colored Wood Siding

This was just a spur-of-the moment, self-indulgent set of walls I did because I found these walls by JodelieJodelie and wanted more of them. I wondered if I could make some different colors without making them completely monochrome, so I just dicked around with adjustment & color fill layers and blend modes until I was satisfied with the results. Some of them are quite bright, and they probably all look like the same 3 or 4 colors to most people, but I have hyper-color vision or whatever it's called where you can distinguish very slight differences in color. (My husband, for instance, would be like "those are all purple.)

Anyway, just thought I'd upload them in case anyone else is looking for some bright cotton candy-ish siding 😆

I'm a huge Trekkie, so I follow Startrekvsfaceapp on Tumblr, and recently they've been posting AI-generated TV & movie posters they made with Dall-E. I freaking CRIED laughing over these because this type of thing just hits my strange brand of humor on the nose. I thought they'd be great as wall deco for my Sims 2 game, but wasn't sure anyone else would have a use for them. However, Pooklet and Azaya apparently share my sense of humor, because they uploaded these cereal boxes and wall graffiti for their Advent a couple of months ago (which went right into my game of course), so I decided why the hell not 😆

It's kind of ironic that the first CC with text I'm sharing since I switched back to English in my game sounds remarkably like Simlish (I swear during the brief time I played TS4 I heard a sim say the exact words "Furntra Furnuma"). But using Simlish in a semi-realistic game didn't work - I'd either have to use content that looks out of place, spend years recreating everything I like in Simlish, or forego using text entirely. Now I feel like I've been granted a dangerous power and I plan to wreak havoc upon TS2 with it 😈

There are a few with more than one poster for the same media, because you're not going to make me decide between "Roobo Robit" and "Rop Boop," or "Zemp Meep" and "Smer Mep." Obviously. There are 24 in total:

Base Game Designer Lounge Recolors with Azaya's textures

The name for this chair in the catalog is ? = (C^11)? (uh... wtf? Is that a math equation?) but the game files call it chairloungedesigner because it's part of the Designer collection. I love Azaya's retexture and have her default for it from the same post, and I wanted more recolors, so I did 14. I've been trying to branch out a little with colors in my game, but ended up going with the usual purple/teal/blue/pink jewel tones and pastels because they suited it best. Oh well.

BG Zecutime Cityside Sofa Recolors with Alexis' textures

I never really used this sofa in the game before, but I saw this nice retexture of it in Azaya's legacy and she kindly re-uploaded it for me here since it was from SimsCave 10 years ago and thus probably lost to the void. It's by someone named Alexis. I did 22 recolors, except for the black one they're all neons and pastels because apparently that's what I do these days for CC that isn't dark and spooky. So, not for the faint of heart I guess 😆

These also recolor the matching loveseat (not shown) and PineappleForest's living chair add-on (which is shown). The metal frame recolor in the preview is also theirs from the same post. I did do a default for myself, but I doubt it'd be of use to anyone else because I think I used some of the brightest colors (I know Hangfire and Pyridine were two of them). However, if anyone wants default neon couches, hit me up and I'll upload it for you.

Neon Jungle - Buggybooz Pots & Planters (in colors plant pots shouldn't come in)

So... I use the heck out of this set in my game, and I did recolors a few years back - but again, since I started truly expressing myself with my game and turned it into a rainbow hellscape, I wasn't using them anymore. I don't think I've seen these in bright colors or pastels anywhere, which is understandable, because, well *points to the title*. So here's 60 - yes, SIXTY - recolors, 30 grungy ones using a texture by someone named Mimi that came with Shasta's repo'd & improved version of the set, and 30 with the original texture. The grungy ones are mostly vibrant (that's an understatement) colors using actions by Pooklet, Furbyq, & BerryNooboos. The plain ones are mosty pastels and some jewel tones (I think some of the latter are repeats from the old set but I might have tweaked them this time and they have a new dirt texture anyway).

Fantasia of the Wind - 4t2 Joliebean Olivia Dress with Lilith Pumps

DeeDee converted this beautiful dress by Joliebean from TS4, but I'm not a fan of open-toed shoes with formalwear, so Rudhira was kind enough to swap them with Io's reshaped version of Sentate's Lilith pumps for me (thanks again! ☺️) The bodice was originally see-through and the skirt had a sparkly texture, but it wasn't right for the style I envisioned. So I made the bodice opaque and added black lace, and because I like to put brocade on everything, I did that and recolored it in 7 jewel tones and black. I did some heavy texture editing on this and honestly I think it's some of my best work thus far. I would've liked to do more recolors, but I was fussing so much with colors on this for some reason (maybe I'll revisit it at some point).

They are for AF, categorized as formal only, and the mesh has both morphs and 7326 polys.

Karma Chameleon - Trapping's top-only Victoria dress in 5 styles

This cute dress is one of my favorites ever, and I had a couple of Aelia & Kayleigh's full-body versions in my game for years. My favorite is the cyberboots one, not just because I love those shoes, but the Asian-inspired floral patterns are so pretty. So since I'm addicted to top-only dresses I had planned to put the recolors on Trapping's mesh & Peggster's TF conversion for ages, but never got to it for some reason. I didn't stop there, and I may have gone a bit overboard. I added Yuichen's "Candyfloss" retexture (and made 7 more pastel recolors), Nymphy's "Mind Restless" recolors of Yuichen's Anther, 8 shimmery brocade patterns (did I mention I like to put brocade on everything?) and 6 miscellaneous patterns. So you get a ridiculous 36 recolors 😆 There are 5 swatches and they're kind of big, so I'm just going to link to them.

My Girl Wants To Party All The Time - DeeDee's 4t2 Ruched Dress Party bottom only with Lilith Pumps

I recolored this dress a couple years ago and I love the mesh but wasn't really using them anymore because they were a bit plain for my current aesthetic.So I added Xandher's lace leggings and made new recolors in 7 neons, 7 pastels, and black. The pastels have heart patterned leggings and the neons have zebra print ones. There are two black recolors with both styles of leggings. I didn't change the texture of the dress because it's surprisingly (IMO) nice for a Maxis TS4 outfit.

These are for AF & TF (again, you have repo'd & standalone options), everyday only, same deal with the morphs, and 1158 polys.

1K Followers Party Part 2: Eyebrows!

When Pooklet released their Eyebrow Overhaul 2: Alien Edition for their Advent with Azaya I was thrilled - not only did I get 18 lovely sets of retextured & bump-mapped eyebrows, but with their new color actions I can cut down on what I need for the 21 unnatural hair colors I now use and keep them sorted without binning, because I don’t always want my sims’ brows to match their hair.

THEN... I remembered their huge set of natural eyebrows from several years ago, which I stupidly didn’t download because I had too many brows already. I checked those out - and now I’ve decided to use Pooklet’s eyebrows almost exclusively, because holy shit they are SO NICE. They made natural color actions that match multiple hair colors as well. So! I set on a quest to redo my favorites of the eyebrows I already had - including some I’ve recolored in the past - with Trapping’s eyebrow textures & Io’s bump map made into an action by Pooklet.

I made an addendum for natural colors to their BSOK codes, so again I could mismatch eyebrow/hair colors and still keep them organized. These will appear in the catalog before Pooklet’s unnaturals, and the icons are hearts instead of circles so black and Selezardium (black/dark blue) don’t get mixed up. I tried my best to make them look decent in Bodyshop and multiple in-game UIs, but to be honest the black and brown don’t look great with Starship UI, which I use, because it’s so dark. I can’t test it with other UIs without uninstalling Starship so I hope they look okay on others.

Each set of brows comes with BSOK’d and non-BSOK’d (tooltipped) files to choose from. IMPORTANT: If you use the BSOK’d eyebrows you need the Fia_NaturalEyebrowColorGlyphs and/or Pooklet_EyebrowColorGlyphs file(s) in your downloads folder for it to work! Pooklet’s instructions for BSOKing your own eyebrows, along with codes for both naturals & unnaturals, are included in a text file.

So, I decided to start with the eyebrows that I use for the Deception IV ladies since they are my main sims. Evelyn (pink hair) is the only one modeling hers because I wanted to show off the new colors, and Laegrinna’s hair covers hers and isn’t part of the standard set of colors I’ve chosen. The colors in this set that use non-eyebrow actions are categorized as follows:

Dk Brown, Misato = Brown
Sunspot, Volatile = Blonde
Molotov = Red
Bastet = Tntesium
Firework = Torpedosphine
Detonator, Toluene = Cannogentmx

1000 followers in 7 years may not be much compared to popular Simblrs that make tasteful content. But I am neither of those things, and I may never hit a bigger milestone, so am I going to make a big deal about it? You bet your ass I am.

MrsM'Quve Hair Palette 2022

These are the colors I will be using for all my hair retextures and recolors starting today! I wanted to expand my unnaturals since my game has gone in an obnoxiously colorful direction, and there were several naturals I was willing to drop to make room for them.

-12 naturals - all of Io’s and Lilith’s colors, Pooklet’s Depth Charge & Molotov, Digi’s Lucifer & Verin, and Furbyq’s Sunspot.

-21 unnaturals - all 14 of the colors I previously used (Bastet is still with unnaturals), plus some new additions from Pooklet’s old and new colors: Firework, Torpedo, Haunting, Pyrodex, Toluene, Cesium, and Xylene.

-Naturals will be binned but NOT familied and enabled for elders as usual. Unnaturals will not be binned (I do it for my own game but not everyone likes to).

Please note that I will only be doing the colors I personally use in my own game. Unfortunately I will not be using grays, as I only play adults and I’m happy with my elder townies spawning with colors. This might be a disappointment to a lot of you as I’m not sure the naturals I kept are commonly used (I rarely see Lilith’s colors, but I love them so much!) and not all of you like unnaturals. A Volatile base will be included in all hair downloads, and recolors are encouraged!

This change has made me motivated and excited to do hair again, which I really hadn’t been in 2 or 3 years. I just dreaded doing so many colors - I know there are still a lot, but it does take less time - and my hair catalog needed a revamp. I’ve grown bored of a lot of the meshes I have and will be clearing them out to make room for new ones. I will be going back and adding the new unnaturals to previous hairs I do decide to keep, but I’m not going to make official upload posts for them. However, if there’s a hair I’ve done you’d like in the new colors and it happens to be one I’m keeping, just ask and I’ll gladly share them!

Spooky Dip 2022!

Did somebody say MOAR BATS?

Here's the prize I submitted for this year's Spooky Dip at GoS! Kestrelteens' cute bat planters in 24 colors. I gave them a new texture (including the soil inside, even if you don't really see it) and reduced the size from 1024x1024 to 512x512, because the originals were a solid color and adding a detailed texture made the file size unnecessarily huge. I didn't notice any difference in the texture quality in-game. There are 2 types, standing and hanging, with 2 sizes each, and the smaller ones are repo'd to the larger ones.

Then I spent way too much time setting up and fiddling with previews, and I kept getting the disappearing makeup glitch. But... better late than never, right? I'm not sure if ReligioSims is a separate creator from RetailSims, because I found this set on the Graveyard under RetailSims and some of the meshes were created by someone named Kisa.
